Prelude
Welcome—Barbara Shafer, Christ Church Highland Park
Worship in Song:
Hymn 2-Almighty Father, Strong to Save
Hymn 252–Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
Scripture (Old Testament)
9 “For this is like the waters of Noah to me,
when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again pass over the earth,
so I swore that I would not be angry at you and rebuke you.
10 For the mountains may depart,
and the hills may sway,
but my faithfulness shall not depart from you,
and my covenant of peace shall not sway,”
says Yahweh, who has compassion on you,
Scripture Reading (New Testament)
1 Peter 3:18-20:
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins,
the just for the unjust,
in order that he could bring you to God,
being put to death in the flesh,
but made alive in the spirit,
19 in which also he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison,
20 who were formerly disobedient, when the patience of God waited in the days of Noah, while an ark was being constructed, in which a few—that is, eight souls—were rescued through water.
Luke 17:26-27:
26 And just as it was in the days of Noah, so also it will be in the days of the Son of Man— 27 they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
