Welcome—Carl Festin, Village Church of Gurnee

Worship in Song:

Scripture Reading (Old Testament): Isaiah 55:1-7, “Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy and eat.  Come, buy wine and milk Without money and without cost.

2 “Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance.

3 “Incline your ear and come to Me.Listen, that you may live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you, According to the faithful mercies shown to David.

4 “Behold, I have made him a witness to the peoples, A leader and commander for the peoples.

5 “Behold, you will call a nation you do not know, And a nation which knows you not will run to you,

Because of the Lord your God, even the Holy One of Israel; For He has glorified you.”

6 Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.

7 Let the wicked forsake his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord,

And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

Scripture Reading (New Testament):

Luke 10:30-37, 30 Jesus replied and said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead. 31 And by chance a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, 34 and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.’ 36 Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?” 37 And he said, “The one who showed mercy toward him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.”
